Judging from your photos your camera is doing a good job :) so I would recommend making a lightbox.
I'm not sure if you know what a lightbox is but it helps light up the model completely without creating any shadows.
There are a lot of tutorials online, I found one which is similar to my set up: http://strobist.blogspot.com/2006/07/how-to-diy-10-macro-photo-studio.html
I've put more lamps around the sides.
Very cheap way to get your hands on a lightbox: cardboard box (ask for one at the local supermarket if you don't have one :) ) and some paper for diffusing the light. When using the lightbox you shouldn't need your flash.
If later down the track you like macro photography you can buy a dslr and macro lense. :)
